Background
A Dubai-based tower client engaged Ark Energy following an energy efficiency and Delta-T rehabilitation initiative that generated approximately 3.8 million AED in estimated annual savings. However, post-project completion revealed discrepancies in energy performance.
Clients typically experience a 10% to 15% loss in projected energy savings annually after Energy Service Companies (ESCOs) complete projects, primarily due to inefficiencies outside the ESCO’s responsibility. The client sought Ark Energy’s expertise in implementing third-party measurement and verification (M&V) auditing and deploying real-time energy monitoring infrastructure.
The Challenge
- Aging and Inaccurate Metering — Metering infrastructure required replacement for precise energy tracking.
- Faulty Meters — A number of meters needed maintenance or substitution.
- IT/OT Disconnection — A gap between Information and Operational Technology required new gateway integration, resolved by linking the building to the arkCONNECT gateway.
Main Objective
Ark Energy implemented a secure, AI-powered energy management platform addressing these challenges through:
- Seamless integration with the client’s BMS/SCADA or IoT sensors, with secure cloud-based energy data storage.
- Automated energy monitoring and M&V reporting adhering to IPMVP (International Performance Measurement & Verification Protocol).
- AI and machine learning analysis of equipment performance and sensor data to identify additional energy-saving opportunities.
- Intuitive, user-specific interfaces with role-based access.
- ISO 50001 compliance verification through data accuracy and sensor communication validation.
Our Approach
Ark Energy executed the arkEMIS integration following a six-phase proprietary methodology:
- Digitalization Assessment — Prioritizing critical energy equipment and KPIs while assessing digital maturity for efficient data connectivity.
- Gateway Integration — Establishing direct sensor and meter links, streaming real-time data into arkEMIS.
- Verification & Validation — Benchmarking collected data against historical trends to ensure accuracy.
- UX/UI Optimization — Designing custom dashboards and automated reports with alerts and notifications for proactive issue resolution.
- Go-Live & AI Deployment — Activating automated analytics, reporting, and alarm systems, with Ark Energy’s Data Analysts and Energy Managers overseeing performance.
- Customer Success & Enablement — Providing ongoing energy management support and training to maximize platform utilization.
The implementation enabled continuous energy monitoring, AI-driven optimization, and data-driven decision-making, ensuring sustained energy savings and operational efficiency.
